My Desktop’s PSU recently caught fire while running a local LLM task and some intensive gaming. Luckily after quickly shutting down the computer, the fire appear to self-extinguish itself and caused no further damage other than a smokey room.
But this meant that I needed to get a new PSU.
I made a quick trip to Sim Lim Square, a retail mall in Singapore that was once dubbed as the “tech mecca” of the country that housed shops selling any computer hardware you need.
Originally I wanted to get the Seasonic Vertex GX-1200 so that I could future proof myself, but it was all sold out where I was.
Instead, I opted for the next best thing which is the Seasonic Focus GX 1000 PSU since all the 1200W available in the mall are out of my budget.
