Exercise and the Brain

Came across this NYTimes article today about a study which found that forcing patients with Parkison’s to ride a stationary bicycle showed an increased improvement in the patient’s overall motor control, over patients who were asked to exercise voluntary. In one example, a patient who have problems with her handwriting due to a condition which causes her to write unreadable and ‘spidery’, wrote beautifully (according to her doctor) a day after taking part in a bicycle tour.

While it hasn’t been proven that this regime has the same reaction for people with healthy brains, something is definitely working behind the scenes. So why not exercise anyway.

Get your brain working again.

Hell, even if it doesn’t make you a genius overnight, at the very least you’d get a really really awesome endorphin boost.
