Came across this relatively old interview with Felicia Day (The Guild) which I thought help me to solidify my image of her as an intelligent, go-getter geek girl. A rarity in a typically male-oriented type class. I liked how she felt she was a ‘square peg trying to fit into a round hole’ as she tries to navigate her way into adulthood.
I’m a firm believer that education is not taught, but nurtured. Academicia is just one part of education and it is not all of education. It is pretty amazing that at the age of 12, she was already involved in causes outside of school, like fighting for mining rights in a letter to her senator.
If Singapore were to grow as a nation, we need to embrace failure. Fail more and fail often so that we can grow better and know what works and what doesn’t.
