Just saw a powerful video this morning. The video is a clip of the self-immolation of South Vietnamese monk, Thích Quảng Đức, in protest of the persecution of Buddhist monks by the regime. The video has been slowed down and given a new post-rock soundtrack, which creates a powerful effect of being able to observe the reaction of the people captured by the filmmaker at every stage of his immolation. Watch as you observe the police try to stop his fellow monks from rushing to him, all the way to the police themselves turning their backs away from the monks to face him and eventually kneeling down as he goes up in flames.

Powerful imagery.
